Digital Marketing Associate

    The Digital Marketing Associate will be responsible for helping Virginia Distillery Co. bring the company and its premium products to life online while supporting overall company and brand goals. 
    Specific responsibilities include: 

    • Delivering and executing a best-in-class consumer experience to our customers over social media (both paid and organic channels) 
    • Building and managing relationships with online communities and influencers 
    • Maintaining, updating, optimizing, and creating content for our various web properties (website, online shop, landing pages, social media, email marketing, etc) 
    • Digitally supporting other company team (sales, visitors center, corporate, production) projects on an as-need basis 
    • Tracking and reporting of key metrics for digital platforms (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.) 
    • Supporting press shipments and competition entries for awards and accolades 
    • Helping maintain brand compliance across partner sites with updates to published materials on various online platforms 

    Qualifications and Desired Experience: 

    A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field is required. Experience may substitute for education at the discretion of the hiring manager.

    Two+ years of experience with social media platforms in a professional setting.  

    Two+ years content creation experience (website, blog, photography, videography, copywriting, etc.)

    Experience with photography, videography, and graphic design is strongly preferred. 

    Must have experience working with a variety of online tools, including Google Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, CMS experience (Wordpress, Shopify, etc), Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel), graphic design software (Canva, Adobe products, etc.), and the eagerness and ability to quickly learn new platforms as needed. 

    Fantastic written and communication skills paired with a strong work-ethic and the ability to multi- task. 

    Interest in the spirits industry is preferred but not required.

Brand Administrator

    Virginia Distillery Company, an American Single Malt Whisky distillery based in Lovingston, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Brand Administrator in the Central Virginia area. This position requires someone who can interact with a variety of people, including internal team members, external vendors and the general public. A diverse skill set ranging from event coordination to shipping and general administration support is required.  Experience in the wine, spirits, beer or cider industry is preferred.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Brand Administrator is a key support for all brand-related activities. The person in this position supports special projects, event coordination, shipping, reporting and general administrative tasks.

    The person in this position will support key brand programs such as nationwide consumer events and spirits competitions.

    This position will also be responsible for all direct-to-consumer and sample shipments including administration, inventory, packing and shipping. Some supply ordering and inventory management will be required.

    This position requires attention to detail, strong planning and interpersonal skills. Day-to-day activities will be working with third party teams (such as vendors, event coordinators and customers). Understanding how to communicate in each different type of interaction will be critical. This will also require coordination across internal teams, supporting both on-site and remote team members. Organization and clear communication are critical for this position. Other special projects as assigned.

    This position requires three plus years of similar responsibilities in administration and customer service.

National Account Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the front-line and key point of contact for new distributor partners in TX & CA
    • Develop annual National Account business plans and execute against them
    • Achieve sales plans by developing, cultivating, and maintaining strong and influential relationships with key distributors and buyers.
    • Work with distributor partners to open new chain accounts
    • Achieve Preferred Supplier Status with your distributor partners
    • Secure buyer meetings, obtain data to support sales plan, and to help with compliance and merchandising of programs
    • Recommend and implement effective pricing strategies, possess knowledge of pricing models, structures, and discounting patterns in a defined region
    • Gain agreement to goals and pricing/programming plan with each distributor
    • Drive business with aligned strategy in defined region to hit annual case goal targets
    • Coordinate the reporting and review of sales results monthly with key buyers and distributors. Course-correct as needed to ensure delivery of plan
    • Ensure all POS in the market is current
    • Use internal and external resources to identify and target top accounts in market
    • Analyze and control other expenditures of region not to exceed budget
    • Work cross-functionally with Market Managers, Field Marketing Representatives (FMR) and Distributor Managers in local markets to ensure alignment, implementation and compliance of national and regional off-premise chain customer beverage programs
    • Leverage resources to prioritize business development opportunities and identify levers for future growth

    Qualifications & Desired Experience

    • 10+ years of experience in chain retailer alcohol sales
    • Established distributor and key account contacts in TX, CA & FL region
    • Knowledge of distributor operations
    • Knowledge of competitive pricing for all key competitor brands

    • Accomplish VDC sales, merchandising, programming, and profit goals by assisting the distributor and help achieve target sales volume
    • Train and manage tasting teams & Field Marketing Representative - FMR
    • Effectively Manage distributor relationship(s) and execute programming goals
    • Track and maintain KPIs and On and Off-Premise Program execution
    • Assist the distributor sales representatives and key accounts to achieve their sales and distribution goals by working with the market and providing training support

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee day-to-day activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly Income Statement and Balance Sheet and annual audits and budgets
    • Prepare all monthly and annual financial statements; investigate, review, and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department staff in this process; take initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement
    • Manage accounts payable with accurate and timely processing of invoices, purchase orders, employee expense reports, and cash control
    • Manage accounts receivable function to ensure the accurate and timely management of all aging components including billings and cash receipts application
    • Lead outside audit compliance and assist with assurance of corporate income tax compliance for accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns
    • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports or tools
    • Support the Operations Director and Supply Chain Manager in the implementation and maintenance of ERP software and reporting capabilities
    • Distribute standard cash flow model and aging payables report to executive management on a weekly basis
    • Lead staff in fixed asset accounting and management recordation and procedures
    • Assist Operations Director with the establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and validity of the accounting data
    • Work with the Operations Director to develop reporting to meet the needs of board members, operations, and other internal users
    • Support the Operations Director with development of dashboard reporting in order to provide KPI’s for immediate and scheduled reporting needs
    • Communicate with co-workers, senior management, clients, vendors, the Board of Directors, and others in a courteous and professional manner
    • Lead inventory responsibilities including capturing all appropriate costs and moving them through various WIPs to a final cased goods inventory
    • Ensure that financial records are maintained in compliance with internal corporate policies, U.S. GAAP and federal, state, and local legal requirements.
    • Participate in monthly financial reviews and assist with the presentation of these reports
    • Assist with 1099 processing, payroll, and tax compliance
    • Prepare annual business personal property tax documentation and business license renewal

    Qualifications & Desired Experience

    • 2 – 5 years of financial and managerial accounting experience
    • Sound judgment grounded in a thorough understanding of accounting principles, ethics, regulations, requirements, and best practices
    • Ability to work well in a team-based collaborative environment
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, precision, and timeliness
    • Strong planning, organization, administration, and interpersonal skills
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the accounting industry including tax preparation, bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements and payroll
    • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office products
    • Experience with an ERP based software platform such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or SAP

    Position Summary:

    Virginia Distillery Company is seeking highly interested individuals who want to learn about the growing spirits industry in Virginia and beyond, who enjoy interacting with the public in support of brand development.

    The core responsibilities will include conducting tastings at stores and consumer events in the local area. Whisky Attaches will be tasked with driving brand awareness, product education and product sales through these activities.

    A full training program and continuous education would be provided to ensure Whisky Attachés are fully engaged in the activities at the distillery and can speak accurately and passionately about the company and the brand.

    The scheduling will be flexible, but focused mainly on evening and weekend events. This would be on an as-needed basis, with no minimum guarantee of available hours per week.

    The ability to lift 40 lbs and stand continuously for hours at a time are required. Preferred background includes people with customer service, theater, adult beverage, brand and marketing experience. Must be friendly, outgoing and excited about interacting with a variety of people in support of educating consumers on Virginia Distillery Company products.
