Operations Planner

This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Solutions Manager and will strive to achieve our relentless pursuit of operations excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Primarily supporting key Supply Chain functions including but not limited to: production and bottling schedule planning to support sales demand, on-time procurement of materials, and finished goods supply logistics
    • Working with Supply Chain Solutions Manager to drive Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes to align all the plans for the business (sales, marketing, development, manufacturing, sourcing, and financial) into one integrated set of plans.
    • Develop, maintain, and drive the execution of highly visible supply chain dashboards to track operations and communicate status to the entire team.
    • Identify, evaluate, plan, and support execution of continuous improvement projects to increase the team's effectiveness in meeting business goals including safety, revenue, quality, and productivity goals
    • Manage inventory procurement for all raw materials, foster existing vendor relationships and support the development of new vendors.
    • Responsible for raw material inventory readiness, availability, and visibility.
    • Interacting with vendors and our internal brand and sales teams, encompassing critical component planning, allocation direction, supply flexibility modeling, and materials liability management.
    • Support project timelines and resources and ensure risk mitigation actions are identified and in place to ensure successful product launches
    • Analyze demand, inventory, and program usage to develop and manage weekly and quarterly supply plans. Results should meet Virginia Distillery Co.’s growth plans, while achieving aggressive time-to-market goals and minimizing finished goods and raw material liability.
    • Collaborate with operations management team to administer, create, and maintain policies and procedures for effective labor, equipment, and resource management.
    • Regular and predictable attendance at the work site, this role requires regular presence at the distillery production facilities
    • This role may occasionally require lifting up to 40 lbs. and the use a forklift.

    Qualifications

    • Prior experience in supply chain, project management, production planning, production control, inventory management, or production/manufacturing operations.
    • Self-motivated and operates with a great sense of urgency and ability to drive progress under immense degree of ambiguity and be comfortable working in an unstructured environment.
    • Superior planning, organization, administration, and interpersonal skills
    • Working knowledge of quality systems, finance, capital planning, and forecasting, economic justification analysis, statistical process control, and manufacturing management systems
    • High levels of analytical skills, ability to use data to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and accurately assess financial impacts
    • Ability to work well in a team-based highly collaborative environment
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, precision, and timeliness
    • Ability to prioritize and perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
    • Open-minded, positive thinker with an ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders

    • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills including advanced Excel

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business with 1-3+ years of relevant experience in supply chain or manufacturing.
    • Prior consumer packaged goods manufacturing, logistics or supply chain experience
    • Desire to build a manufacturing career at the heart of business operations

    Compensation

    The role will be serving our production operations in Lovingston, VA but may require light travel. Being on-site full time in Lovingston, VA is required for this role.

Field Market Representative, Florida

The Field Market Representative in Florida reports directly to the Southeast Market Manager, must reside in territory, and will be the dominant spirits broker in both market share and sales execution for Virginia Distillery Company.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop and maintain relationships with Distributor Representatives and retail off- premise accounts in territory to ensure Virginia Distillery Company’s long term sales goals and objectives are achieved.

    Make retail off premise account calls in a professional, consistent, and timely basis to develop and maintain relationships within assigned accounts, resulting in sales growth, new POD and continued depletions in accounts.

    Responsible for development of an efficient daily route with monthly planning & quarterly adjustments, to maintain sales placements and seek out new opportunities.

    Utilize KARMA & Power BI tools on a daily and weekly basis to support real time, data-driven reporting and decision making.

    Track & Maintain KPI’s and Retail Off Premise Programs.

    Monitor inventory and proper use of POS material.

    Conduct staff training seminars, tastings, store tastings, support Brand & Sales events in market.

    Pre-sell upcoming discounts and additional inventory.

    Survey and maintain account database for brand usage, promotional opportunities, etc.

    Maintain weekly reporting to Southeast Market Manager which includes (but is not limited to): itinerary, new item presentations, pertinent customers, and competitive information.

    Maintain business travel & expense budget, reporting, and market tastings budget.

    Maintain vehicle in a professional, efficient manner to assist in overall job performance

    Ability to obtain and maintain state solicitors permit and any other state-required licensing.

     

    Daily, Weekly and Monthly Activities

    90 % of time will be spent in market with assigned accounts, distributor representatives, brand, and sales events, tasting events, staff training & meeting with Virginia Distillery Company leadership.

    5 % Administrative duties such as: telephone, email, expense reporting, mail communication.

    5% Divisional meetings- office and suppliers. Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned

     

    Qualifications & Desired Experience

    Bachelor's Degree, WSET or similar training a plus.

    Two or more years’ experience in wine/spirits sales within specified market.

    Exceptionally strong time-management skills.

    Strong comfort level with technology.

    Exceptional verbal & written communication skills required.

    Must have valid driver’s license.

    Position requires frequent travel and occasional overnights.

     

    Compensation

    This is a salaried full-time position with benefits, commissions, and is eligible for participation in our Employee Equity Program. This role reports to the Southeast Manager and must reside in territory.

    Key Responsibilities

    Share a strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

    Work with Sales Team & Brand Marketing Team to execute Sales Programming within the retail market channel.

    Spear head vendor point of sale development (all trade specific items printed and developed for consumers to drive sales including shelf-talkers, table tents, retail displays, wearables) with Sales & Brand Marketing Team.

    Coordinate sales programming logistics working with Operation Team, ensuring all materials arrive to each market manager in accordance with the program timeline.

    Adhere to Sales Program development timeline. Source & track pricing and mockups of conceptualized point of sale from Vendors and work directly with the Brand Team to manage logistics and delivery.

    Manage Point of Sale Inventory par levels on-hand and availability, Points of Distribution to the Sales team and our Distributor partners.

    Manage Sales Team calendar inclusive of meetings with our distributor partners, interviews with potential candidates and events with our Brand Team.

    Ability to update and maintain all PowerPoint presentations for the Sales Team with our Brand Team.

    Track pricing files with our Distributors/Wholesalers.

    Track and Book Market Tastings, Weekly Distributor inventory, KARMA updates as needed.

    Understand and escalate data discrepancies within sales reporting systems.

    Assist Sales Team with budget tracking by market and work with other departments on sales budgets and planning.

    Administer data within KARMA by reviewing and entering tasks quarterly for the sales team

    POD tracking by Brand/SKU.

    Other projects as defined on an as-needed basis to assist Sales goals

     

    Qualifications

    Strong analytical and attention to detail skills with the ability to plan

    Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

    This is a salaried full-time position based out of our headquarters & distillery in Lovingston, VA with the potential to be a remote role. Founded by Dr. George Moore, the distillery has set out to bring single malt whisky to America, and to be a pioneer for this developing market.   We work hard to bring our category-defining American Single Malt Whisky to market.     The Head of Advocacy & Select Private Casks role is a remote role that will require upwards of 30% travel across the country to priority premium whisky markets and reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Represents Virginia Distillery Co. by acting as the leader of advocacy strategies and activities, working with Brand and Sales teams to equip field partners to drive advocacy of our brands.
    • Work with field sales in top Premier and Tier 1 accounts (80% focus in retail), to drive meaningful activation, distribution, and visibility in our best accounts.
    • Execute staff trainings, key customer events and whisky events in key markets with top accounts.
    • Develops and implements brand and trade advocacy strategies for VDC portfolio within our top accounts and at top whisky events – including media events, trade shows and key client events.
    • Leader of whisky education efforts within VDC organization, working closely with our production and brand teams to develop tools, collateral, presentations, and experiences, that will be distributed throughout our sales, distributor, and retail networks.
    • Continuously expanding knowledge and skillset within sensory and whisky category, seeking out best practices and therefore advancing VDC’s proficiency in the space.
    • Engages and mobilizes Sales and Distributor partners to communicate brand strategy, vision, sales tactics, as well as drive enthusiasm for the brand and executional excellence of all programs and initiatives.
    • Creates and maintain relationships with key market stakeholders; local trade community, distributor partners, influencers and local partners and continuously promotes VDC brands.
    • Responsible for developing, organizing, and executing exceptional evangelist initiatives against customers and consumers.
    • Participate as needed in distributor sales meetings (GSMs), planning meetings, and customer planning meetings, to better align on strategic goals within each unique group and lead in whisky presentations.
    • Commercially responsible for Single Cask sales to private clients and whisky groups, selling finished C&C Single Cask products or Cask Society cask pre-sales, to drive revenues with HNWI, key opinion leaders and key whisky groups.
    • Commercially responsible for helping to drive limited edition product release selling with key retail customers and organizing appropriate activities to help with selling including events, trainings, and entertaining.
    • Helping to develop the (multi-year, single barrel pre-sale) Cask Society program from a marketing and amplification standpoint, to make it a highly desirable program for our target audience to invest into.
    • Work with other 3rd party organizations focused on cask investments to include VDC as a cask offering in their portfolio.
    • Assisting the broader sales team with single cask leads, including leads that are not within cask commission parameters
    • Management of T&E for travel to key markets, entertaining of key customers and distributor teams, and management of an activation & events budget for bringing the brands to life in market.
    • Travel across the country, upwards of 30% to priority premium whisky markets.

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years in alcohol industry (trade, distributor, supplier)
    • 3+ years of whisky brand ambassador experience
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Profound knowledge of whisky market, suppliers, production processes, and ability to speak confidently about our products in comparison to other competitors
    • Self-motivated and operates with a sense of urgency and willingness to learn
    • Great ability to communicate and work well in a team-based highly collaborative environment.
    • Exceptional presenter to larger teams including sales teams, consumers, and customers
    • Budget management experience and a demonstrated history of showing fiscal responsibility

    Desired Experience

    • College degree and 10+ years sales and ambassadorial experience
