A small, traditional malt whisky distillery in the heart of Virginia.

Our Story

The Virginia Distillery Company is building a small, traditional malt whisky distillery, here among the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. When we open our distillery in 2015, we will distill and age whisky from 100 percent malted barley by hand— not computer— and with the greatest attention to detail.

The result will be a singular Virginia malt whisky rooted in centuries of Scottish tradition and experience. Such excellent malt whisky requires the authentic equipment that has been used for centuries (got it), the skilled senses of a master distiller whose experience is measured in decades (check), and patience that lasts for years (have that, too).

Virginia Highland Malt Whisky

Virginia Highland Malt Whisky starts life as a beautiful malt whisky distilled and aged in the Scottish Highlands. We bring this delicate whisky to Virginia and let it rest in Virginia port-style wine casks sourced from a local winery, creating a unique, elegant experience.

You can find Virginia Highland Malt Whisky now in discriminating restaurants and stores.

Washintonian Magazine presents On the Rocks, its third annual whisk(e)y and fine spirits festival. There will be a live band, delectable fare, and plenty of great spirits to enjoy. Of course, we'll be there serving our excellent Virginia Highland Malt Whisky. We wanted to kick things up a few notches, though, so we're partnering up with Lulu's Ice Cream of Georgetown to present something truly special. Lulu's uses liquid nitrogen to churn ice cream right before your eyes, and because it's made at such a low temperature, any alcohol added to the mix doesn't burn off. That's right: boozy ice cream cocktails!
